Harman Electronics opened shop in New Delhi in 1974. The goal was simple: make PA equipment that sounds good and doesn't fall apart after six months. We've been at it for over fifty years now, and the product line has grown quite a bit, but the way we work hasn't changed much.
We manufacture under the UNIVOX brand. Amplifiers, conference systems, microphones, speakers, megaphones, mixing consoles, tape decks, horns, driver units, diaphragm spares — all of it comes off our own production line. We source our own components, handle quality control in-house, and test each unit before it leaves the works.
The work, in the end, is not glamorous. It is consistent. The discipline of doing the same thing well, year after year, is the whole story. A school principal in Lucknow buys a UNIVOX amplifier in 1985 and writes back in 2022 to ask if we still make the same model — that is the kind of relationship we are in this trade for.
Five decades in this business means we know what holds up in Indian conditions. Heat, humidity, voltage swings, rough handling. Our equipment is built to deal with all of it. The components are industrial grade because cheap parts make for short-lived gear, and short-lived gear costs the customer far more than the initial saving.
We sell through an authorised dealer network across Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and several other cities. The dealer is part of the product. If something needs fixing, there is someone local who can sort it out — and they have the original UNIVOX spares because we still make them.
